At Golden Sunset, we try to only stand still long enough to learn something new.

Mark believes strongly in always learning, always growing, always doing the best.  He encourages clients and trainers to find experts in the field of their interests and share knowledge with the Golden Sunset Community.

Intro to Barrel Racing

Saturday, October 8th
1PM-2PM

Casey will be explaining all about barrel racing at Golden Sunset.  Learn about the show circuit, the costs, time commitment, techniques, and lesson program/show team at Golden Sunset.

Western Dressage Clinic

Friday, October 14th 2-7PM
Sunday November 20th 9-3PM

Marty Williams will be at Golden Sunset for a day of Western Dressage lessons.

Trailer Loading Clinic

Sunday, October 9th

Join Earl Weaver for a free hour demonstration on how to teach your horse to self-load.

Mounted Shooting

Saturday, October 22nd 1-2:30PM

Find out about mounted archery.  Learn what the learning process entails, how to get started, and then sign up with Casey for the 12-week program!

Intro to Roping

Saturday, October 29th
9:00AM-11:00AM

Join Andy for an introduction to roping.  He’ll be explaining what you need to know and what you’ll need to teach your horse in order to be a successful cow wrangler.  
Learn to tie a lasso and practice on the roping dummy.

Advanced Trimming

Wednesday, November 2nd 6-7PM

Listen to David Myers talk about when to shoe and when to continue barefoot as well as the different options for corrective trimming, and using farrier work to improve performance in different sports.

Halter Class

Saturday, November 12th
9:00AM-11:00AM

Join Andy for hints and tips on how to win at your next halter show.  The first hour will be spend on turn out and new judging criteria while the second hour will be spent on presentation, horse behavior, and questions.

Learn About PSSM

Saturday, November 19th
Noon – 1PM

Learn about PSSM, a muscle disease that occurs primarily in horses with Quarter Horse bloodlines such as Quarter Horses, Paint Horses, and Appaloosas.
Find out about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.

Bit Clinic

Saturday, November 26th
9:30AM – 4:30PM

Try out different bits to best suit your horse and the activity you are doing with them.

Nutrition Consult

Sunday, November 27th
9-10AM; 10-3PM

Meet with Sherri Rivers for a personal nutritional consult for your horse. 
A free talk will begin at 9AM, followed by individual appointments.

Golden Sunset Ranch has a full staff of instructors who have competed and trained in different disciplines.  

Whether you are want to compete or just learn a new skill, we encourage you to explore the resources available and try new things.  You are always welcome!

Casey has been participating in mounted shooting competitions for over 10 years.  She can help you learn how to become an expert, or just try something new.

Register in advance as classes are limited in size.  

The first 30 minutes are unmounted.

Every Thursday 5-6:00PM

Andy was 5 time Champion with the Midwest Barrel Racing Association on his (in)famous mount Roller.  He can help you up your game, giving you the tightest turns and fastest breaks.

Andy offers two different experience levels for roping lessons.  Whether you are a complete beginner or ready to compete, Andy can guide you to a fun and fast-paced sport.

Register in advance as classes are limited in size and divided by experience level.

Golden Sunset Drill Team

Every Sunday 9-10:30AM

Join our Drill Team!  Practice is once a month between October and April and is once a week between May and September.

We participate in events once a month and hold a performance at the Ranch for our annual Christmas party. 

Our Facilities

Indoor Arena - Outdoor Arenas - Round Pens

We have lots of options for where to ride.  We do ask that boarders respect group lessons and not ride in the arena being used during specialty training times.

Drill Team practice takes place in the indoor arena between October and April and in the large outdoor arena between May and September.  Mounted shooting training is held in the grass outdoor.  Roping and Barrel Racing training is held in the large sand outdoor arena.
